The Stephen Philip Harvey Jazz Orchestra (SPHJO) is a 17-piece ensemble that play Harvey’s original compositions and arrangements that blur the lines between genres and push forward Harvey’s individual sound. He fuses bop, hip-hop, alt-rock, and pseudo-cinematic aesthetic to create unique aural experience.

The Stephen Philip Harvey Octet (SPH8) is Harvey’s mid-size contemporary jazz ensemble. This octet exists at the crossroads of chamber music and large ensemble. They use their mid-size and timbral variety to create a diverse array of colors and textures.

Sphinx

Sphinx is Harvey’s electric quintet comprised of led by Harvey on sax/pedals with a four-piece rhythm section. This ensemble exists at the crossroads of jazz, fusing it with all different styles of Black American Music. Its compositions are backbeat-fueled and groove-rooted.

SPH+2

SPH+2 is Harvey’s smallest ensemble in his array of bands that he leads; focused on straight ahead improvisation in the most intimate setting. This chord-less trio sees Harvey and two colleagues weaving through compositions that capture feelings of whimsy, tranquility, and adventure.

Hidden Cinema Records

Hidden Cinema Records (HCR) is proud to present itself as the newest boutique record label and production company.

Established in October 2021, HCR is under the creative direction of composer, saxophonist, and producer Stephen Philip Harvey. The initial goal of HCR is to house Harvey’s jazz/jazz-influenced recording projects with plans to expand to include a roster of artists in future years.
